Everything that I delete from index.php gets erased on others!!??

The problem is that everything that I delete from the index.php gets erased on every other page. I am trying to take off the “e-mail this page” link at the bottom of the other sections in the site, and only have it on the main page. But it’s not working …

    Anyone have any suggestions? http://www.dateunknown.com/index.php

  • The index.php is sort of the fall back position for themes that lack specific templates for things like single posts or archive pages and so forth.

Understanding the Template Hierarchy would probably help you out a lot:

The short version is to copy your index.php into the other templates, and then those templates will get used for those specific sorts of pages. This lets you edit each type of page independently.
