Support » Fixing WordPress » Everything suddenly aligns left

  • I just noticed that my entire blog, which used to align center, now aligns left. It loads in the center like normal, but when everything is done loading it goes to the left, leaving all sorts of ugly blank space on the right half of the screen. Everything was working find yesterday. What could have happened to cause this change.

  • Not sure if this helps, but here’s part of the code from my stylesheet:

    body {
     width: 1000px;
     font-family: Verdana, Tahoma, Georgia, Geneva, Arial;
     font-size: 12px;
     color: #000000;
     background-color: #ffffff;
     margin-right: auto;
     margin-left: auto;
     padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px;
     background: #76898F;

    a link to your site would help more than the snippet of css.

    what have you changed since yesterday?
    new plugin?
    new post?

    Thank you

    @vitalichka your website is working fine here

    Everything is supposed to be centered in Internet Explorer.
    Could you check again with SHIFT-REFRESH to clear cache

    See how the posts look centered?
    The index is supposed to look the same.

    The index is supposed to look the same

    What index we talking about as I browsed to a page and looks fine.

    Basically when you go to the home page everything is left-aligned in IE. Works fine in other browsers. Same goes for pages like the event calendar it’s all left aligned.
    But when you open a post all looks fine and centered.

    But this is a problem only in IE.

    Oddly I changed nothing which could have had such an affect.

    Thank you for your help. I look forward to your response.

    I see what you mean looks like there some css problem did you make any changes in css file.

    Nope, I didn’t in fact I even entered the original CSS in case there was a problem of some sort. It’s also odd because when you scroll to the very bottom of the page you see some weird smiley face which is nowhere to be found in the code and I did not add but that same face cannot be seen in any other browser.

    This is very very odd.

    Any suggestions?

    on style.css I see a *

    Theme Name: StudioPress
    Theme URI:
    Description: A clean, Adsense-ready WP theme.
    Author: Daily Blog Tips
    Author URI:
    Version: 1.2
    Tags:blue color, right sidebar, two columns, fixed width

    /* Reset Defaults Starts */

    * {
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;

    take it out and see if that causing the problem
    or reinstall theme as is studio press theme you should not have this problem.

    Wow now this was weird.
    I tried doing as you’ve said above and when I clicked save, it said no such theme found or something similar. I checked again and theme was there.
    Then I went to update the theme and it said there was update available for the theme but this did not show up under the ‘updates’ section. So I updated the theme which removed a lot of my custom edit. But everything works now. Funny thought because the update replaced the files with the same files.

    This is the same update which has been in effect for weeks now. nothing changed.

    Weird but thanks for the help.

    BTW, I didn’t have to remove any of the CSS code as you said, it’s all still intact.
