As the title reads, this is a seriously weird error.

I have 4 custom post types on this site

    • Slides
    • Clubs
    • Job Postings
    • Testimonials

For some reason (not sure when this started) whenever I save a Club post type, it’s slug is updating to ‘justine’ or ‘justine-2’ (if justine is in use) which is the slug of one of our Testimonials. I’ve never experienced anything like this before and I’m completely dumbfounded.

Some information of the server and what I’ve tried:

    • We’re on WPEngine
    • I’ve tried deleting the testimonials post type
    • I’ve tried renaming the justine post slug, it makes the club slugs change as well when I save them.
    • I’ve tried pressing save on permalinks twice
    • The site uses redirection plugin, I’ve tried disabling it

If possible, I can give the author login/ftp access to our staging environment. Was literally hours away from launching this site and now I’m pulling my hair out. Help appreciated.

It’s definitely something to do with a plugin, I’ll post more as I figure it out.

It seems like it’s something to do with Yoast / WordPress SEO.

My biggest question is if these are the slugs for posts in the post type, or the settings for your post type in our plugin. It sounds like it may be related to posts in the post type you created.

If you have deleted posts that had the same slug, but haven’t emptied the trash, then that sort of # appending will still occur, because the slug hasn’t been “free’d up” from the database quite yet.
