  • Hi,

maybe you can try to turn-on WP_DEBUG or see your php logs to see if there’s any other error since it’s working on your other site with the same plugins however with the same theme also?

have you tried switching themes and/or disabling other plugins temporarily, then saving your permalinks again, and see if it works then?

Coming from the thread I opened here, locations work well with Twenty Twelve. It is just DirectoryPress that is not playing with Events Manager.

cheers for confirming…. unfortunately some themes have issues in this respect… it may be they’re trying to add their own location post type as well.

That is what I thought inicially, Marcus, but maybe someone else can confirm this, DirectoryPress doesn’t add a “locations” post type as such, I am wondering if there is anything in locations that is particular of Event Manager.

we do add some custom permalink rewrite rules, but generally speaking they are valid rules that any theme should allow.

maybe moving the locations page so e.g. it is not a parent of the events page will help?

I am having the same issue with this plugin. I read this thread and didn’t see the fix. I have followed the troubleshoot tips on the developers site (I.E. deactivate plugins, change themes, re-save permalinks) and still getting the 404.

    Someone please help

I did manage to get events manager working with an older version of directory press, but I have noticed that even with the older version DP, once you do anything that involves events, ie: adding a new event for example, the location pages in EM and article pages in DP throw 404’s until you do a re-save in permalinks. Bit annoying but it works, guess there is a conflict between DP article and EM. Still cant change location slug, no matter what you change the page or slug to, it still goes to “location”. Its working on this site http://www.llanellilife.com but i’m now stuck with the fact that I cant update DP the the latest version.

if DP is using custom post types, there may not be much we can do about it.

did any of you try changing the locations slug on our settings > Pages > permalink slugs?

the only other suggestion I could make is a workaround, try adding this to your wp-config.php

    define(‘EM_POST_TYPE_LOCATION’,’em-location’);

or similar. You will lose your old locations this way, but then if there’s a CPT clash EM will try to use another name.

    Thanks Marcus

Putting define(‘EM_POST_TYPE_LOCATION’,’em-location’); into the WP-config.php file has now made it possible to change the locations slug and the single location page now works without any 404’s and with no need to re-save permalinks after every change to EM.

Have tested EM on current latest version 7.1.3 of DP and all now seems fine.

so I guess we can confirm the problem with DP is due to it also using a CPT called ‘location’.

glad to hear our constant served a good purpose, it’s a last resort option for situations just like this 🙂
