    (@idealynx)

    I’m currently using The Events Calendar v4.6.11.1 plugin and I’m getting some weird text at the bottom of my calendar page. Here is the text:

    [[ if(imageSrc.length) { ]]
    [[=title]]
    [[ } ]] [[ if(excerpt.length) { ]]
    [[=raw excerpt]]
    [[ } ]] [[=i18n.find_out_more]]

    It looks like this might be a bug or some broken code. Please advise.

    Thanks!

  • As a followup, another plugin developer ran an HTML validation check on The Events Calendar plugin to see if they could isolate the problem. They said The Events Calendar plugin is generating many warnings and errors.

    They suggested using a shortcode to display the calendar instead of a permalink, but I don’t know how that’s done.

    Please advise.

    Just a suggestion for you. There is a shortcode plugin for the Event Calendar. If you install it, it will provide a section on your Add Event or Edit Event page that shows the shortcode for you to add to a page or post to include a specific event. At least, that is what is on my Add new or Edit page for individual events.

    Thanks, Chuck. Do you know if that plugin is available for the free version of The Events Calendar?

    Sorry to hear that, @idealynx. I’m not seeing many comparable reports though and our demo site (which uses only a slightly modified version of a default WordPress theme) doesn’t exhibit this issue:

    https://wpshindig.com/events/

    I’m inclined to think a theme or plugin conflict may be at play. Do you operate all of those sites and are there any components common to all of them?

    Our standard troubleshooting steps are definitely worth a shot here πŸ™‚

    Thanks Barry.

    No, I don’t run all of those sites. Only the one I initially listed. I just added the others to illustrate my point that other people are experiencing the same problem.

    Yes, there is a conflict with ToolTip Pro+ from Creative Minds. Their support team is claiming The Events Calendar is throwing all kinds of warnings when they run the calendar page I referenced through an HTML Validation Checker. They suggested using a shortcode to display the calendar instead of a permalink, but I think that option is only available with the paid version of The Events Calendar.

    Hey @idealynx,

    First off, I would like to apologize for the delay answering.
    We are currently experiencing a higher level of requests than usual.

    Please rest assured that we are working hard at correcting this situation.
    We appreciate your patience while we try to normalize things.

    Yes, you are correct full shortcode abilities only comes with the Events Calendar Pro.

    If you have not already tried that, you might also want to experiment with different settings under Events -> Settings -> Display for Events template, sometimes that helps.

    Best regards,

    Geoff B.

    Thanks Geoff. I appreciate your followup. I’ve temporarily switched over to the Default Events Template, which fixed the problem, but I’d still like to have my sidebar back. πŸ™‚

    Please let me know when you have a fix that addresses this. Thanks for all your help.

    Hey @idealynx,

    Since your theme is built on Genesis framework. You could try our Genesis Framework Integration.

    Hope that helps!
