I updated the EC plugin today after WP 5.0.3 autoinstalled on my site, and now all the events are gone and I cannot access the /events page any longer. There is some incompatibility with the new WP. Anyone solved?

More data: Cannot reinstall EC either from WP plugin manager or via a ZIP file. Fails saying

Installation failed: Connection lost or the server is busy. Please try again later.

or, in the event of the zip

    Inactivity Timeout
Description: Too much time has passed without sending any data for document.

…and it looks like there are updated files in the plugins directory on my host…

    Hey there,

    Thanks for reaching out 😄

Please try deleting the plugin folder via FTP or cPanel and uploading the new version zip.

    Take care,

Hi – I’m having the same problem. I’m using Divi theme and The events calendar. I’m still on WordPress 4.9.9. the only update I did was to update the plugin. then the plugin completely disappeared. although the folder was still in cpanel files list.

I’ve tried renaming the old folder (instead of completely deleting it) and then installing the previous version (4.7.3) but got the message that there was already a folder with that name. There wasn’t a folder with that name when I started the install but now there is. It’s like it’s trying to install twice or something.

I’m now trying to completely delete all of the plugin folders and install the newest plugin version from the zip file. wish me luck.

well that didn’t work either. Now I’m getting the message about server not available due to maintenance. It does look like the plugin installed when I look in cpanel, but it’s not listed in the wordpress dashboard plugin page. Help!

Thanks, @erishel Ed. I actually did that. At first, it did not work, but then I realized that I needed to Activate in the Plugins Menu, so I did, and everything came back. Thanks for your help, but it was a big scare.

@melanyh I saw the /src/ subdirectory in my CPanel equivalent at first and assumed the files were properly installed, but I was wrong. Then I deleted the entire “The Events Calendar” directory again and installed via zip. After reactivating, everything came back. Hope you are able to get this working again.

This is tagged as resolved but it is not. I just upgraded to WordPress 5.0.3. I then updated several plugins including the-events-calendar. My site immediately went into maintenance mode and never came out. I had to get support to fix it for me. Finally I deleted the-events-calendar and things went back to normal minus my calendar. Verified that there is no the-events-calendar directory in the plugins folder. I then decided to try installing again from the WordPress dashboard. This fails. So then I went to WordPress.org and downloaded the the-events-calendar.4.8.0.1.zip file and tried to install it manually. It reports that the link has expired ??????????. Something is still broken. I did look through the code when I only had it disabled I found a strange misspelling: It looks like they misspelled the directory “the-events-calendar.disabled” as “the-events-calendar.disabledd”
