    Hi Stephen,

I just discovered your plugin. It looks very promising for what I need. I am testing it to see if it fits what I need, or to see if I can make it fit.

I need to add events that are on specific dates, where there is no pattern in the dates themselves. How do I do that? Do I need to add the event for every date (which does not sound like the way to go)? Or is there en easier way that I am not seeing.

Really nice plugin. I will look into it further.

  • Hi,

You don’t have to add each date as a separate event (though you can do that). Alternatively on the event edit page, click ‘Add/Remove Occurrences’ in the Event Details metabox. This reveals a datepicker which the dates of the event highlighted – you can then click each date to select (or deselect it).

In this way you can create an event with arbitrary dates – (or create an event which follows a pattern but deviates from it).

    Hi Stephen,

Thanks for your quick reply. I have played around with this and it works a little strange. I got it to work on a NEW event, where I had to input everything OK at once. Editing afterwards gave problems. Sometimes the reoccurence is set to “custom” and the selections were not saved. Sometimes the end-date gets reset although I saved another end-date.

    It is quite confusing.

Also the events calendar widget does not display ALL events, but only the first event from a series.

Hope this makes sense. I’ll clear the database and see if I can make some sense out of this and give you a better idea of what is going on and where the difficulties arise…

Yup, there is a bug in 1.5.7 (1.6 is being released this week). There is an immediate fix anyway: http://www.harriswebsolutions.co.uk/event-organiser/forums/topic/cannot-update-the-schedule-of-an-event-with-custom-reoccurrences/

The events calendar displays only the start dates – but if you have an event that repeats it should show each each of the start dates.

Ah, thanks. I’ll wait for 1.6 as I have more work to do on this website. I’ll get back to this and see if my problems are gone.

One more thing which might be a problem is the handling of templates. I am using the atahualpa theme, which handles sidebars different from your templates. I could write my own templates but then I need to remember to put the templates back in the theme everytime there is an update (or if the client makes an update I don’t know about!). This is a matter for later. If I run into problems there I’ll let you know in a new thread.

Thanks for now! I’ll set this to resolved.

You should create a child theme for your site (doesn’t need to do much/anything) – that way you can move the templates into your child theme and updates do either the plug-in or the theme won’t effect them.
