Support » Plugin: Events Manager » Events and Locations do not display – unable to delete everything and start over

    Somehow I’ve gone from having Events and Locations displaying to only seeing “No Locations” and “No Events” displaying. Have tried “Uninstall” plugin to delete plugin and data but it just hangs so cannot even start over.

    Any suggestions?

    A few questions/comments:

    – Did this happen after upgrading our plugin, or maybe another plugin/theme?
    – Are you aware that ‘Uninstalling’ will delete ALL your event data, so you will begin with no events/locations?
    – Do your events appear at all in your admin area? Or is it everywhere? Bear in mind that if you have events in the past, they may not show unless you specifically search for past events.
    – With regards to the uninstall hanging, do you have any more information with regards to what happens when it ‘hangs’? Any errors, notices, etc?

    A way to manually delete the plugin data would be to delete all wp_em_* tables from your database, and then delete the dbem_version option row in wp_options (i.e. where option_key = ‘dbem_version’)

    Thanks for the quick reply Marcus.

    It was happening before I updated this plugin – which I did do hoping it would fix the problem.

    The theme was not updated. I deactivated 3 plugins that may have been updated right before the problem started but that didn’t help.

    Yes, I was hoping to uninstall and delete all event and location data, settings – everything and start over in hopes the problem would go away but uninstall hung and didn’t seem to work.

    Events and locations do show in the admin area and are published (not draft) and all have future dates.

    Sorry, no errors or messages when trying to uninstall. The page just freezes.

    One more tidbit – initially only the location pages was not showing locations but after I removed and added back the plugin and fiddled with settings then the events stopped showing as well.

    Oh, and I had a caching plugin enabled at one point days before the problem started and deactivated it and things were working back then. Also cleared local cache, tried different browsers.

    I just deactivated and removed the events manager plugin, then using PHPMyAdmin deleted the only wp_em* table remaining – wp_em_meta and then reinstalled the plugin and all of my events and locations are still showing in the admin area – but not not pages.

    I tried adding another event but it doesn’t show either

    This is really weird!

    Any other ideas?

    since EM is using Custom Post Type (CPT) you can try to clear events in wp_posts table as well

    I think at this point, since you’ve been deleting things, starting from scratch with a new EM instance is the best approach, unless you have a backup.

    Try these SQL statements (but BACK UP first!)

    DELETE FROM wp_postmeta WHERE post_id IN (SELECT ID FROM wp_posts WHERE post_type='event' OR post_type='event-recurring' OR post_type='location');
    DELETE FROM wp_posts WHERE post_type='event' OR post_type='event-recurring' OR post_type='location';
    DELETE FROM wp_options WHERE option_name LIKE 'dbem_%';

    Delete the wp_em_* tables, and you should be starting from scratch.

    You could (and probably should) still try the uninstall option, see if you can get it to work if you try whilst other plugins are disabled and/or using a default WP theme.

    I just restored the entire site from a Nov 12 backup when both locations and events were displaying and they both work again. Thanks much for your help guys. Will refer back to this post steps above if it happens again.
