Support » Plugin: Event Tickets » Event Tickets Plus doesn’t work and is a subscription

  • I feel a bit robbed by the paid version. Not only didn’t it work well when integrated into the website, the literature on the internet was limited. It is a fairly expensive plugin whose updates end in a year. Again, I was misled into thinking it would still function without updating, but no, the plugin quits completely and bye bye $80. Not a lot of value considering. Might as well use Eventbrite. Easier and only more expensive if you’re selling gobs of tickets.

    Hi @keepsakecidery,

I’m sorry to hear you had a less than stellar experience. One of your notes in particular concerns me:

Again, I was misled into thinking it would still function without updating, but no, the plugin quits completely and bye bye $80.

    That’s not true.

Yes, our premium plugins are subscription-based, but if you decide to cancel your subscription then plugins such as Event Tickets Plus will not suddenly cease to function.

With that said, it is true that if you cancel then you will also be unable to benefit from future updates. Given that, if you try to use an old version of Event Tickets Plus alongside updated versions of WordPress and Event Tickets (our free, core ticketing plugin) then it is possible that Event Tickets Plus would be left behind and may, for safety reasons, refuse to start upon detecting a version mismatch.

However, I’d contend that this is really only a problem if you continue to update Event Tickets (and/or The Events Calendar, if you happen to also use that plugin) while avoiding updates for Event Tickets Plus.

Not only didn’t it work well when integrated into the website, the literature on the internet was limited.

Can I get an idea of some of the problems you hit or some of the things you were looking for but couldn’t find? If you want to share your experience privately, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly (barry [at] tri [dot] be) … I’d love to check into this and see how we could have improved things for you.
