Two WordPress sites brought down after Event Tickets plugin Update to 5.27.0. and The Events Calendar plugin Update to 6.15.12.1. Event Tickets plugin failed to load properly so it was rolled back in recovery mode to 5.27.0 which did not make any difference. Deactivated Event Tickets plugin and got both sites back up.

It appears to be a problem with The Events Calendar plugin 6.15.12.1. Should I roll it back too?

Whoops. The rollback of Event Tickets in recovery mode was to 5.26.7 level which did not make a difference.

    Hey @abqdanj,

I am sorry that you are facing such an issue. This is something that should have been prevented by our dependency requirements.

The Events Calendar 6.15.12+ is only compatible with Event Tickets 5.27.0+.

You site should work fine if you update both plugins to their latest versions.

Could you let me know what happens when you try that please ?

    Thank you,
    Dimi

Thanks Dimi, but the problem was caused by updating both plugins to their latest versions – Event Tickets 5.27.0. and The Events Calendar plugin 6.15.12.1. Using WP Rollback plugin, I was unable to replace any combination of the plugins that would allow Event Tickets to work, so I had the site restored to the last stable combination of the plugins – The Events Calendar 6.15.11 and Event Tickets 5.26.7. I can now accept new Event Ticket RSVPs, but unfortunately, I lost two RSVPs with the site restoration.

I have another site that still has The Events Calendar plugin 6.15.12.1, but I had to disable the Event Tickets plugin in recovery mode to stabilize the site. This is currently not an issue since I don’t have any events requiring RSVPs.

    Hello again @abqdanj ,

I completely understand how frustrating it can be to face those issues while updating to the latest versions. While we haven’t been able to reproduce the problem on our end, I definitely want to make sure we get this sorted out for you.

To help us investigate more thoroughly and provide a proper resolution, could you please open a Support Ticket through our Help Desk and reference this thread or that you have been talking with me or both? This will allow us to dig deeper into what’s happening on your setup and assist you more effectively.

We’re here to help, and we’ll make sure this gets the attention it deserves.

    Thank you,

    Hi Dimi,

In preparation for opening a support ticket, I refreshed a devsite so I could easily test any suggestions. I noticed that there was a new release of The Events Calendar plugin (6.15.12.2). I installed it on the devsite and activated the Event Tickets 5.27.0 plugin. I created a test event with the RSVP functionality of Event Tickets and it not only worked, but the site didn’t crash.

Do you think The Events Calendar 6.15.12.2 plugin update fixed the problem, or is it some other environmental issue?

    Thanks,
    Dan

    Hi @abqdanj ,

    Thank you for your message.

According to the change log, the main fix released was for an accessibility issue. It doesn’t look like there were any critical error addressed with the release. Have you tried the update on your sites that encountered the issue?

    Hey @abqdanj ,

I believe your site is facing an environmental issue. That’s why i asked you to reach out to us via our premium support portal.

The error you are facing Uncaught Error: Class "TEC\Common\Integrations\Custom_Table_Abstract"

Should not happen with 5.27.0 Event Tickets and The Events Calendar 6.15.12.
The class TEC\Common\Integrations\Custom_Table_Abstract no longer exists in those versions, but any reference to it has been updated.

More specifically the log, points to wp-content/plugins/event-tickets/src/Tickets/Seating/Tables/Maps.php to be the culprit that is using the non existing class, but as you can see here (That file on the 5.27.0 version) this is not the case.

I’d like to insist into opening a ticket through our premium portal. Ideally the site you will prepare mimics one of the sites where you are facing that issue. We will make sure that we figure out what is happening.

    Thank you,
    Dimi

    Hi Dimi,

Per your request, I opened a ticket at the support site. I had to open it as pre-sales since we use the free versions of the plugins and I do not have an account. I doubt it will go anywhere, but I name-dropped you, so perhaps it will.

Upon further investigation, I determined that PHP is version 8.4.7 on the test site, whereas it is version 8.1.28 on the failing production site. Could that explain why the plugins work in test, but not in production?

    Thanks,
    Dan

Wow, Dimi! The Events Calendar AI support bot reviewed my description of the problem and provided a comprehensive response including all the things I should check and do. It said I needed at least PHP 8.1 which I have in the live site, but I should upgrade it to 8.4.7 as it is in the test site.
