Event object by Post ->id in theme files?

    We are looking for alternative for
    $event = Ai1ec_Events_Helper::get_event($post->ID);

    Recently we updated wordpress and plugines with latest version and found Ai1ec plugin is not working more with my custom theme.

    We need event information for our custom look, can you please guide me how we can access event information by post in within theme files like index.php, category.php etc.?

    Please help us.
