  • Event location URL shouldn’t require a link text. It should use the link itself or a placeholder text like Event website if no link text was provided, not give this error:

Your event details are incorrect and cannot be published, please correct these errors first:

Please provide some link text for this event location URL.

No, the event details are not incorrect. What does the plugin want me to write there? “Event website”? Completely redundant. If the user doesn’t have anything to write there, they’re fine with the link text and/or a placeholder text being used there, and the plugin should get out of the user’s way and not demand those.

This might sound like a small thing, but it’s actually a big one. First, it makes all the admins’ workflows worse for every single URL-based event that they add – and this site is expecting to add only those. Second, it’d place the burden on admins to instruct all users on such unintuitive oddities. I’m dreading the amount of support/bug requests I’d get if I’d publish the website with this problem, and everyone chipping in to say “hey, this could be easier”. And then dealing with reduced traction until this gets fixed in EM core, or having to code my own workaround to it and keep maintaining it separately, which is not a great thing when both EM core and our own layout and other fine-tunings will occasionally cause cascading needs to fine-tune every other improvement like this. So here’s for hoping that this’ll be fixed in EM core soon and I can go forward with an EM-based site 🙂

PS. Related to locations, in the Settings pages “Physical” is occasionally spelled with an incorrect additional i: “Physicial”.
