This sounds like a possible conflict caused by your theme or another plugin. To check if it is, can you test with all other plugins deactivated and while running the default WordPress theme?

I’m hesitant to deactivate everything and switch themes because I’ve been working over the last two months (volunteer work) on this site and I’d really hate to lose any of that work. The site is part of a multi-site install and one of the other install’s uses Events Manager that the detail page works as expected. That site has more plug-ins activated than the one that’s having trouble. I have tried to find some difference between the two sites that would cause this, but haven’t yet.

Deactivating themes and plugins doesn’t affect the associated settings – they will be there on reactivation.

Sorry for the delay, I’m just working on this site as a volunteer and don’t have a lot of time for it. Deactivating the plugs-ins didn’t make a difference but switching themes did allow the event details page to load.

It’s sort of weird because when I started this project I made a copy of the existing site and have been modifying the copy. I’m still using the same theme as the original site and the original site will display the event detail page. example: http://stjosephferndale.org/stjoenew/events/basket-drawing/

Now that we know it’s theme related, what do you suggest?

I decided to use a different event plug-in that isn’t so buggy.

If everything worked fine when you switched to another theme, then your theme is at fault, it probably has coding errors in it. Most likely something as described here:
