As requested, here is my own request for help on this issue. As per @boxhampster’s issue (https://shorturl.at/s9kbg), my website is in Spanish and my users are in Spain and view the site in Spanish. Some of our admin is done in Spanish and some in English.
Our various admins log in according to their preferred language. When they do, however, the Event Calendar URLs are affected causing an intermittent 404 Error. The ‘workaround’ we discovered (again as per chat with boxhamspter) is to log in as Spanish admin and refresh the permalinks.
Please could you investigate why this is happening and provide a solution. No other part of the website is affected, only the EC URLs.
I can get you logged in as admin, please email for password.
Thanks
Theo

Thank you for reaching out and for taking the time to open up your own thread on this issue.
Unfortunately, we’ve not been able to find (or lock down) the source of the issue, and have not been able to reproduce the issue in our testing environment running only The Events Calendar plugin and the twenty-twenty-one theme. Have you tried cloning your site in a staging environment and running only The Events Calendar plugin with it and reproduce the issue? If you’re able to reproduce the issue consistently in your staging environment, could you please provide detailed steps on how you went about reproducing it?
I hope you’re doing well! I just wanted to follow up and check in, as we haven’t heard back from you in a little while. Have you had a chance to review our response above?
Let me know if there’s anything I can assist you with.
It looks like we haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’ll go ahead and close this thread for now. If you need further assistance, feel free to reopen it or start a new thread.
Hi, sorry for the delay in responding. However, this issue is NOT resolved.
We are at least 3 users experiencing this problem: @tspenglish, @boxhamster, and @tobifair. I don’t know why you are treating our obviously shared issue separately (and closing each case).
The steps to recreate have been confirmed by all three users:
Have two admins with different languages (one shares the website language)
Set up the Event Calendar (in website language: Spanish in my case)
Test all the EC URLs and see that they work ok.
Log out and in as admin with different language (English in my case)
Something in this seems to mess up the URLs, they are now English and give 404 error
Workaround (part a):
Log out and back in as Spanish admin
URLs still give 404 error
Refresh permalinks
URLs now work as expected (they are now Spanish and load properly without 404 error)
Workaround (part b):
Once URLs are working, avoid logging in as English admin
Thanks for your response, and for sharing additional details about the issue.
To clarify your question about why we close support tickets — it’s an important part of how we keep our support system organized and efficient. When a thread becomes inactive for a certain period, our team closes it to avoid confusion and to help us focus on active issues. That said, you always have the option to reopen your thread at any time if the issue persists.
In many cases, users either find a workaround or no longer need assistance, which is why we proactively close inactive tickets. Additionally, for confirmed bugs, threads may be closed while the issue is tracked internally — and we always update those threads as soon as a fix becomes available.
As for the 404 issue related to language mismatch between user accounts and the site, I want to assure you that this has already been logged under bug ticket [TECTRIA-607]. Our development team is aware and will be reviewing it for a future fix.
While I don’t have an exact timeline for the resolution just yet, please know that this is on our radar, and we’ll provide updates through this thread, our changelog, and in our newsletter once the issue is resolved.
Thanks again for reporting this issue. Have a great day.
I’m happy to help if you have any other questions related to this topic—otherwise, I’ll go ahead and close this ticket for now.
If you run into any other issues, feel free to start a new thread. This helps us keep things organized and aligned with the WordPress Forum Guidelines.
Have a great day!
