    Hello everybody!

No matter what i choose in the backend of wp-events-plugin, wordpress always uses index.php for displaying the event category page e.g. /events/category/sports/

I can choose the default events page or, category page as events category page but wp-events-plugin still uses my index.php. with or without “overwriting formats”.

I can use the archive-event.php for displaying all events. url: /events/
This works fine. But as soon as changing to a category it uses my index.php and does not list any events.

Anyone else having issues related to the category template? Any ideas what could be wrong?

  • Hi,

Am I right in thinking you want it to use category.php? If so, do you have that file in place in your theme?

Sorry for my late response. WP Events Plugin uses a custom taxonomy “event-categories”. category.php does not work in this case. I am using archive-event.php The archive-event.php works fine when i use http://www.siteurl.com/events.

My main problem is, that wp-events-plugin does not use the template which i choose in the backend (e.g. Events site). It always uses my index.php for displaying event categories, no matter what i choose. So i guess this might be a bug?

If you’re having trouble making taxonomy-event-categories.php work, you can also edit the Events Manager template at /events-manager/templates/templates/category-single.php.

This tutorial shows you how to make upgrade safe custom templates:
