 * Any thoughts on what are the “essential WP plugins.” I am pretty new at this 
   and am a bit overwhelmed at the number of options available. I would like to 
   start by gaining the wisdom of the sages.

   you ultimately use ought to depend on what you want to do with your blog. Theyre
   plugins, not collectibles.
