 * When we enable autooptimze it breaks our menu and layout on home page.
 * We assume the menu is down to using jet menu and a JS issue.
 * In regards to the layout again the css as it has been modified for home page.

 * Would anyone be able to assist as its critical we get all the optimizations working
   and I belive excluding certain files from optimisation would help but I’m not
   sure which ones are breaking it and also how to exclude them.
 * It’s odd as it only appears to effect the home page.

 * First and foremost try to identify what is breaking tablepress by just disabling
   CSS or JS or HTML or Image optimization (incl. lazyload).
 * If the problem is with JS, chances are you’ll find useful information on your
   browser’s developer console.
 * Based on outcome of the above, we can see what next steps would be.
 * hope this helps,
    frank

 * I’ll be happy to guide you, but [asking for/ giving mail is frowned upon](https://wordpress.org/support/guidelines/#the-bad-stuff).
 * Why not do it here, starting with you trying the things from my previous answer
   and see what we learn from that? 🙂

 * Ok however I’m unaware exactly what I’m looking for in the console.

 * Here’s a short primer on how to check the console, we’re specifically looking
   for any JavaScript error you might see.

 * Hi,
 * We have checked it and get this error.

 * ok, those are “files not found” errors, which are more then likely due to the
   HTML being served from a cache pointing to autoptimized files that were deleted.
   purging any page cache(s) you might have should fix that issue.

 * Ok but we cleared cache when changing the settings.
 * Also it displays the home page oddly. But I assume that it’s down to missing
   these files?

 * But clearing Autoptimize’s cache does not clear your page cache(s), as AO does
   not do page caching. So the question is; do you have a page caching plugin, does
   your host do page caching (using e.g. nginx or varnish) or do you use a 3rd party
   system such as Fastly, Sucuri or Cloudflare which might do page caching?

 * Ah, ok yes we use nginx so that may be the issue.
 * I will put them on again and try to clear the cache there.
 * Thanks

 * Hi thanks,
 * That worked and all seems ok now.
 * However, we have noticed one thing. If you look below it appeared that a lot
   of what is slowing our site down is autooptimse CSS being render blocking?
 * [https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ukbss.com%2F&tab=mobile](https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ukbss.com%2F&tab=mobile)
 * How can we solve this?

 * have a look at the “inline & defer CSS” option, more info on how to use that
   in [the AO FAQ](https://wordpress.org/plugins/autoptimize/#faq) 🙂
