Hi. Been using WP for 5+ years, but struggling to understand how this is possible:

Last night, I go to bed and my site is working fine. No issues.

This morning, I wake up to practically every page on my site having errors in one form or another. Example screenshot:

My web host then switched me from PHP 7.1 down to PHP 5.6 and all errors disappeared.

I can see it appears to be related to a Plugin I use, Thrive Leads, and I’m already trying to get help from them.

But I guess at a fundamental, basic level, I’m just struggling to understand how PHP errors can start popping up on my site without me changing anything?

I’ve used PHP 7 for months. And no new plugin updates happened last night, so it’s the same plugin software that I was using yesterday, error-free. Same goes for my theme.

It may have been some other change made by your host, probably related to the web server and PHP.

Thanks, Steven. That’s a big help (seriously).

What would you do if this happened to you?

Talk to the plugin developer? Leave it as PHP 5.6 for a while? That’s all I can think to do…

    I’d ask the plugin developer.

I’d rather be running 7.X but if 5.6 makes things work then ‘so be it’.

Do have a chat with the plugin developer in the hopes that they might have a fix… it’s possible they didn’t know there was an issue. Speaking up might help somebody else down the road.
