[Resolved] Errors no longer showing in console ?

  • Hiya,

Is it just me or does this plugin catch and log the errors (which it does well!), but also remove the errors from the js console ?

Very inconvenient when you’re debugging… and unclear from the description of the plugin. Would have saved me a lot of time if I’d know this beforehand…

Using v1.0 of the plugin and debugging using Firefox 20.0.1 with Firebug 1.11.3.

hm, i think you’re correct. the plugin returns true from the onerror handler, and for example
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8087240/if-i-override-window-onerror-in-javascript-should-i-return-true-or-false
says that “When the function returns true, this prevents the firing of the default event handler.”

This should obviously be in the documentation, and probably a setting for it should exist too.

Actually reading that thread it seems that true prevents it in FF, but false prevents it in Chrome… oh dear…

To be fair, I do not think the plugin should alter the normal behaviour of the js onerror handler, so in my opinion, some browser detection will be needed and returning true/false in a browser dependent manner to ensure that the default onerror behaviour is unchanged.

Just my two cents… deactivated for now. (I need the console a lot more than the logging)

I agree with you. Thanks for the feedback!
