Using your Silver edition. If I run a backup manually it seems to be fine. But if I run a scheduled backup it errors. Here is the log. Please advise. We are on Go-Daddy Optimized WordPress.

@kjoubert, This happens when cURL or PHP Stream calls are being blocked. I’d recommend to check the followings if it’s related to the scheduled backups only:

    – Please make sure you don’t have such rules in your Hosting Firewall configurations to block calls from your IP address to the same IP address. In other words contact your hosting and ask them to whitelist your IP address.

    – If you have any security plugins installed on your WordPress, try to disable them to make sure they doesn’t interfere BackupGuard calls.

Please check them out and keep me posted about your progress.

    Regards,
    Lisa Breen

@kjoubert, did you find a resolution to this? Running on GD as well with WordPress Managed and having the same issue. I am able to run the backup manually to local or cloud backup, however scheduled backups are giving the PHP execution time error. (I increased the execution timeout limit, which addressed the manual backup issue).

Not yet. Their reply did not help. I also think they did not read that it is successful if not run as a schedule. Hence it would not be a firewall or security issue at Go-Daddy. Perhaps a refund is in order.

We are seeing the same error message for scheduled backups as well (manual to S3 works fine), very interested to hear the resolution if you do manage to resolve the issue.

Our enviro is a little different – running self managed AWS stack (EC2 + RDS + ELB) however I would not be surprised if GoDaddy is using similar or the very same AWS cloud based architecture for their managed service.

Nothing should be blocking the EC2 server from communicating with “itself” (internal firewall is fully open), no security plugins are enabled either and still seeing the error.

Seems to be a lot of these time out support posts popping up…

As there doesn’t appear to be any working solution we gave up on waiting and switched to the BackWPup plugin which is working well for daily scheduled backups.
