    I am getting an error message above the widget.

 * what version of PHP do you have?
 * also, if you have access to your php.ini, you should set display_errors off so
   you don’t get these kinds of non-fatal errors printed on your front-end.

 * Wow, that’s older than I expected. WordPress itself requires 5.2 now: [https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/](https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/).
   So I won’t add support for anything less.
 * So see if you can’t get PHP upgraded.
