  • Im uploading to startlogic, and cant figure out why im getting error in trying to import wordpress config file: any thoughts?

    There seems to be an error in your SQL query. The MySQL server error output below, if there is any, may also help you in diagnosing the problem

    ERROR: Unknown Punctuation String @ 1
    STR: <?
    SQL: <?php
    // ** MySQL settings ** //
    define(‘DB_NAME’, ‘bedfordnyrealestate’);

    SQL query:

    MySQL said: Documentation
    #1064 – You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘<?php
    // ** MySQL settings ** //
    define(‘DB_NAME’, ‘bedfordnyrealestate’)’ at line 1

    you dont import your wp-config.php into your database.

    what are you reading that you understood that needing to be done?

    Thats a file — you upload that file, and all of the other files that make up wordpress, to your web space using an ftp client.

    I dont know how to access ftp client- any thoughts? I cant believe how hard this is….

    This is what i see in ftp file:

    ou can build your site using Web authoring tools, and then use an FTP program to upload the Web pages to your StartLogic account.

    To access your account via FTP, use any FTP tool and log in using an FTP username and password:

    You can manage your FTP information with the tool below:
    Master FTP Account
    UserName FTP (Home) Directory Last Login Status Options
    rrteam / Unknown Enabled [Edit] [Disable] [Verify]
    Additional FTP Accounts

    its not hard. you dont access an ftp client.

    you use an ftp client to access your your web space.

    you indicated in your other thread that youre trying to do this on startlogic, therefore you need to read this:

    ok, i found a place to upload a file. i uploaded it. now what??

    Home Fri Jun 20 21:30:52 2008
    public_html 755 4.0 K Thu Jun 19 14:51:57 2008
    stats 755 4.0 K Fri Jun 20 14:18:37 2008
    wp-config.php 660 1.2 K Fri Jun 20 21:30:52 2008

    ok, there you go.. thats where you want to be, sort of .. you want to out ALL the wordpress files inside that public_html directory

    AND you need to make sure that you maintain the directory structure. so when you are done you will have something like this:

    public_html ->
    etc ..

    and there will be even more files and and other folders inside those wp-* directories.

    its not JUST the wp-config.php that you need to upload
