Support » Plugin: WordPress Gallery Plugin - NextGEN Gallery » Error when uploading

  • Nextgen has worked great for us for years, and now i cannot load an image to our employee team page:

This is SOOOo frustrating. It seems there is nothing we can do! Here is the error I keep getting: – “An unexpected error occured. This is most likely due to a server misconfiguration. Check your PHP error log or ask your hosting provider for assistance.
0 images were uploaded” – the image never gets uploaded or it does get uploaded (even though the error states that it has not!), but it is super small or the tops and bottoms get cut off.

I have contacted our host(go daddy) and they assisted me in making ‘changes’ – but it did not work.

Ialso tried to import the photo(s) directly into wordpress media section and then upload from the “import from wordpress media library’. Nothing! The upper right hand corner just states that it is ‘importing’ and the status bar says ‘in progress’ but it goes on forever.

All of the images are the same size too. The existing ones AND the new ones, so that is not it either!

What can I do. We have hired new employees and I can’t add them to the team page at

@discmann262 – What has changed on your site since you last uploaded successfully?

    – Cais.

nothing has changed. no plugs have been added. Your plugin interface is completely different from the last time we added an employee (about9 months ago). Go daddy tried to change some stuff with me on the line. Technically stuff that I didn’t understand – but this was after the fact anyway.

This is a real problem for us

@discmann262 – Your description indicates you most likely updated NextGEN Gallery, did you update any other plugins as well, or perhaps your current theme?

There could be a plugin conflict going on here or at least it should be ruled out. Have you tried deactivating all of your plugins, clearing your browser cache (and site caches if you are using a caching plugin), then reactivating the NextGEN plugin?

If this fixes the problem then it was likely one of the deactivated plugins that was causing an issue. Now, retrace your steps activating each plugin and re-checking to see if the problem returns. If it does then that last activated plugin was probably the one. Keep reactivating and in most cases it is also best to keep checking after each plugin, sometimes there may be more than one plugin on a site that will create an issue. If you do find one (or more) plugins causing this problem we would greatly appreciate your feedback on them so the developers may address them as soon as they can.

Also to note, in rare cases it may be the theme itself that is causing a conflict so while you have just the NextGEN plugin activated you might consider temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress Twenty series themes and see if this corrects the issue as well.

If the problem still persists after all of this we would still want to know, even more so, as we will still want to sort out the issue and may need additional details.

    – Cais.
