Support » Plugin: NS Cloner - Site Copier » Error when search and replace contain double quotes

  • Resolved TecBrat

    When trying to replace

    name=”parent” value=”parentcity”

    name=”parent” value=”orlando”

    I got the following error:
    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘parent’ (T_STRING) in /home/rivervie/public_html/wp-content/plugins/ns-cloner-site-copier/lib/ns-utils.php(40) : runtime-created function on line 1

    I doubt it makes a difference, but I was doing a Clone Over Existing Site when this happened.

    That’s strange, because the Search and Replace in the Cloner definitely handles special characters properly and I just tested in the lab and could perform your exact scenario without error.

    If you are NOT on version 3.0.7 of the Cloner and version of the Search and Replace add-on, then please open a ticket at so that we can look at your issue in more depth there, and provide your original order #.

    Otherwise, it should be working and/or you might need to check your MySQL configurations for settings related to escaping special characters… or you might need to check your content (like if it contains fancy double-quotes from pasting in from another application instead of standard double quotes).

    Thank you for your response.

    The site has
    NS Cloner – Site Copier Version
    NS Cloner Add-on: Search and Replace Version

    The site also has
    NS Cloner Pro

    I found the UI for NS Cloner V3 easier to follow, so that’s what I started using.
    I am only a sub-contractor on this project, so I’ll have to see if I can get the order details from the contractor above me. I worked around this issue, so I may have to abandon this request. I hope this thread is somehow helpful to someone else.
