# Error when posting comments

 * If someone posts a comment they get this error:
 * Not Found
 * The requested URL /home/johnmc/public_html/scaredbunny.com/^http://76.186.244.48/
   $ was not found on this server.
 * Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument
   to handle the request.
 * Any idea which file is missing and how I replace it?

 * Hi jm… just tried to comment and yep you are right, that’s an odd one. I view
   sourced your page and it looks okay. This may not be your problem at all but 
   try changing your Permalinks (under Settings) to say Month/Year and see if it
   happens. I notice you’re using the default ones anyway and there’s nothing seo
   friendly about using those.
 * Log out. Try to post a comment yourself.
 * It’s a shot in the dark, but it is weird how choosing the right permalinks seems
   to clear up a lot of problems….

 * Well, it’s different, but not better. Now I get:
 * Not Found
 * Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here.
 * And the generated URL makes no sense.

 * jmcachran, if you’ve updated you permalinks you have to make sure that your .
   htaccess file is writable or you would have to write the given code (found on
   the Settings>Permalinks page) into your own .htaccess file into the root of your
   WordPress blog.
 * Without the proper changes made to your .htaccess file WordPress will not be 
   able to properly direct your page loads to the correct page.
 * Changing permalinks changes the URL structure of your site and the .htaccess 
   file will handle these type of calls to display the right page.
