    Hi there, I am getting the following error when I try to create a new sitemap;

    Warning: DOMDocument::save(/home/test/public_html/sitemap.xml) [domdocument.save]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/test/public_html/wp-content/plugins/google-sitemap-plugin/google-sitemap-plugin.php on line 162

    Any ideas how I can resolve this issue?

    Thanks in advance,

    pj

    Hello pstranney,

    The plugin does not have permission to create a site map. Please set the rights 755 for the main folder via ftp and cpanel.

    Regards,
    Valeria.

    no joy, tried 755’ing the google-sitemap-plugin folder and the main public_html folder.

    Its not even allowing me to create a sitemap.xml file I selected I want to create a new sitemap file and none is being created perm is set to 755, its also not updating in the robots.txt file

    Hello buxmont.tech,

    Please check the plugin version and the permissions for files in the folder (better, if you set 644 or 755) You should create these files manually (robots.txt and sitemap.xml) and set the permissions 755.

    Regards.

    I’m having the exact same issue. Same error message. I have created the robots.txt and site map.xml files, and I can read them from my browser. But the plugin cannot overwrite them. I set permissions on the folder and files to 755.

    Maybe the name of the ‘owner’ and ‘group’ that have permission to write the files are not the same as the name wordpress uses? I can see the name of the owner and group, but how do I find the name that wordpress is using to write to the server?

    Hi photocurio,

    Maybe the name of the ‘owner’ and ‘group’ that have permission to write the files are not the same as the name wordpress uses? – no, it doesn’t concern writing a file.

    The error can only be in the access permissions. Please check permissions to files and folders.

    Please make use of the following information suggested by WP –
