# Error Uploading Large Images

 * Hi,
 * When I try to upload large images to my site (6000 x 4000 pixels, ~9Mb) I get
   an error about the images being too large and I have to reduce the size to get
   them to upload.
 * I’ve checked my Media Library and it says it has a Maximum upload file size of
   512 MB, and in the settings for media uploads I have the large size max width
   and height both set to 10000 (I’ve also tried setting the medium to this as well).
 * Is there a way I can upload these large images to my site without having to resize
   first? I run a multi-author website so I don’t want my contributors to have to
   mess around resizing images before uploading, ideally I want them to be able 
   to just upload as they are and then I use Smush or another plugin to compress
   and optimise them once uploaded.

 * Hi [@t-p](https://wordpress.org/support/users/t-p/) thanks for the response. 
   I’ve already looked at that article, but it says I already have a 512Mb upload
   limit and my image is only 9Mb but it still won’t upload.
 * Any other ideas for why this may be the case?

 * If anyone else comes across this topic and is interested, it wasn’t a memory 
   size issue it was a problem when uploading from the frontend with the Gutenberg
