Error uploading images
-
Loads of old stuff around about this problem but no clear solutions.
The problem is when uploading images – just before the crunch an error message comes up “failed to write to disc”. I contacted my host who couldn’t help. Is there any solution to this? I understand there are work arounds but I want to understand the problem and its fix.
Any help? (I updated the wordpress build to 3.3.2 and all the plugins – before I did this the error message was “http error”)

Is your disk full or write protected for some odd reason?
I can upload images direct to server and add images to post by URL. But this is just a temporary method, surely.
The disk in question is my hosts – I’m nowhere near my allocated web-space.
The upload folder is set at 755. I’m assuming this is correct – I’ve never touched it…thanks
Tried it with smaller file size and smaller width images but no joy there either,…
First thing I’d try is to repair the files under updates.
If that dont work then disable all plugins.
Test it
If it works turn the plugins on 1 by 1 until it doesnt anymore and then you know what plugin is causing the issue.
sorry – what do you mean “repair the files under updates”
OK, reinstalled latest wordpress build – no solution
disabled all plugins – no solution
help!
“failed to write to disc
That is definitely a server error and nothing to do with WordPress. Go back to your hosts again. If they can’t fix it, consider moving to a better hosting company.
Yup, I’m coming to the same conclusion – I’m still waiting on another email I sent them…
I’ll post the result here to save other people the time…
thanks for all your efforts!
