I have recently changed hosts and am now unable to update my settings on Jetpack. Every time I try I get this error: “Error updating settings. Cookie nonce is invalid (Status 403)”. I have deactivated all other plugins with no luck. I have also uninstalled Jetpack and reinstalled it. I have no idea what to do from here.

    Hi there,

Please try logging out of your site’s WP-Admin dashboard, and then log back in. That should fix it.

Not related to this issue, but I also noticed there are some XML-RPC errors on your site that might cause problems later on.

You can see the response we get when we try to post to xmlrpc on your site here:

This is what it should look like:

To prevent future problems because of this, please contact your hosting provider and make sure that XML-RPC is correctly configured on your server.

I logged out and then logged back in. Same issue. I deleted Jetpack, logged out, logged back in and readded Jetpack. This is what I got when I tried to activate the recommended settings: “Recommended features failed to activate. Error: Cookie nonce is invalid (Status 403)”. When trying to change the setting manually, I get the same message I had before.

Thank you for the info about the XML-RPC. I will get with my host on that.

In that case, please try to resolve the XML-RPC issue with your host first, so we can rule that out as a possible cause. If you still get the cookie error after that is fixed, please let us know.

Upon working with my host for the past few days, we have come to the conclusion that it was my browser. I was using Chrome and the tech guy suggested that I use a different browser after I had issues with another plugin after I had deleted Jetpack. I used Edge and was able to update the settings.

Excellent, I’m glad to hear you could figure it out!

If Chrome continues to cause you trouble, I would recommend deactivating any browser extensions that may cause issues with cookies, and see if it helps.
