    Hello.

I have been using Contact Form 7 successfully, but after a while I tested it again and realized that it is not working anymore, I don’t know for how long.

The error I get is the following with a red border below the “Submit” button of the form:
“There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.”

That is strange as it did not happen before.
Also I checked that the e-mail is properly configured with the “WP Test Email” plugin and all is fine, I get my e-mail.

I tried to dig a little big into it and I have seen that there are two main reasons for this failure:
    1. mail_sent_ng
    2. spam

I could just see that the reason was not due to spam, but to the “mail_sent_ng” flag set, by debugging.

Any idea of what is going on?

  • Hi I am having the same issue I believe, I am receiving the same notification. Before the contact form was working fine. Today i updated the plugin. I also added a recaptcha. Now it shows me “There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.” Please let me/us know how to fix this. Thanks so much

I figured out that it is due to the “Manage Notification E-mails” plugin. I disabled it and it worked immediately.

Now I still need this other plugin as I need a second admin e-mail to send notifications, so I think that in some way we should have contact form 7 team contacting them to figure out what the issue is.
Moreover, it would be interesting to understand how a plugin can make “Contact Form 7” fail at all, what function is being overriden, etc… so that no other plugin is able to inadvertently disable CF7. This seems to be urgent as everyone that will have a wordpress setup with just one single of such plugin will complain a lot about CF7 not working, so it would help prevent all those cases. Also maybe the new validator could include this check for all known failing plugins as a second prevention tool.

@worldofwils can you please tell if you also have this plugin and if disabling it solves the issue for you too?
Else, can you please try to disable all plugins, make sure it works, and then enable one by one to try determine which one causes the issue?
