• Howdy,

I’m suddenly getting an odd error when I go to my Manage Themes page, on these two blogs:
    http://www.freedomfeens.com
    and
    http://www.freedomfeens.com/blog/:

    This is the error:
“ERROR: The parent theme is missing. Please install the “Template” parent theme”

When I search that error, the closest thing that comes up are threads concerning Child Themes. I’ve never made a Child Theme.

I’m no longer able to change themes.

I’ve tried disabling all plugins, no luck. Tried re-installing the theme via FTP, no luck. The two blogs have different themes (the first one is Pilcrow, second is Mag Meg.)

I’m thinking it might be something with server settings, because I have a bunch of WordPress blogs on a different server from these two, none of those other blogs are having this issue. Still, I’m buffaloed. Anyone have any idea what would cause this?

We did have a Syn-Flood attack on this server recently, but I don’t think anything was hacked. Everything else other than this theme issue is working fine on both blogs.

    Under “Current Theme” it doesn’t give the proper theme name, it says;
    Current Theme: Theme Name
    Current Version: Version
    By: Author

At the bottom of the Manage Themes page, it says:
    =-
    Broken Themes

The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.
    Name Description
Theme Name The parent theme is missing. Please install the “Template” parent theme.

    Thank you!
    Michael

    I SORT of fixed it.

Downgrading from PHP v5.6 to 5.4 made it so I don’t get the error, and I can access and install other themes, but….

….when I put in a new theme, I have to manually drag the widgets back in, and put the HTML back in them. If I go back to the original theme I had when things were working, Mad Meg, the widgets are all still there.

    Only had this issue on
    http://www.freedomfeens.com/blog/
    not on
    http://www.freedomfeens.com

    Any thoughts?

I have the exact same error
    never had a child theme
I am hosting on IIS 8 and running PHP 5.6

the problem is fixed when I have WinCache Opcode disabled.
when the opcode cache is on, the template error appears.
