  • Please verify that your keys are ROOT keys. Although amazon suggests that you set up users and group keys, the Product Advertising API (which the plugin uses), cannot use anything but root keys.

I don’t see how my keys could be anything other than root keys, I followed the instructions for creating these keys no other options for key creation were made available. Could there be a problem with the plugin itself?

    MrTMC,
There are several ways to set up API keys, so they are not always root keys. If you follow Amazon’s suggestions, they will have you set up user or group keys as almost all other API allow for them – but not the Product Advertising API.

Additionally, when you have this error:

    AWS.InvalidAccount
Your AccessKey Id is not registered for Product Advertising API. Please use the AccessKey Id obtained after registering at https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/flex/advertising/api/sign-in.html

Then it is one of two things –

    1. You really did not sign up for the Product Advertising API (so you need to follow the link and do so)
    2. You did sign up for the Product Advertising API and you are using the wrong keys (not root keys or the keys you are using are expired or incorrect)

The MOST common error when this message is returned, is not using ROOT keys, so I always start with that for troubleshooting and then move down the list of other common issues. So next, check to make sure you are signed up for the API by following the link, and then verify your keys are not old, expired or deleted.

This is not a plugin issue, as the plugin is connecting to the API with the data you added to the options – so the data is wrong. If it were the plugin, I would be getting thousands of emails letting me know there was an issue and I am not.

I know it is a royal pain in the butt to set it all up (try supporting it sometime), but those are the hoops that Amazon requires in order to use the API – they are not things I set up just to make the plugin difficult to use, I assure you.

Try the other troubleshooting things I mentioned and if you still have problems, please let me know and I will do my best to help you get this set up correctly.

    Warmest regards,
    Don
