Support » Plugin: Simple Calendar - Google Calendar Plugin » Error Retrieving Events

  • When trying to add a calendar I am receiving the following error;

    While trying to retrieve events, Google returned an error:

    { “error”: { “code”: 403, “message”: “Requests from referer <empty> are blocked.”, “errors”: [ { “message”: “Requests from referer <empty> are blocked.”, “domain”: “global”, “reason”: “forbidden” } ], “status”: “PERMISSION_DENIED” } }

    Please ensure that both your Google Calendar ID and API Key are valid and that the Google Calendar you want to display is public.

    I have tried another plugin with the same credential on the same site and it pulls the events through.

    Is this a known issue – is there an easy fix?

    Hi – I remove the restrictions (the referring URL bit) and it works now.

    Not ideal I guess but works around the problem.

    How did you remove the restrictions?

    Within the Credential Section of the API area on Google Console.
