# Error: REST API & loopback

 * I’m using Contact Form 7 – PayPal & Stripe Add-on Version 1.6.2 and received
   these 2 errors when I checked the SITE HEALTH. Everything us updated on this
   site. I disabled all the plugins and it seems Contact Form 7 – PayPal & Stripe
   Add-on is the culprit.
 * The REST API is one way WordPress, and other applications, communicate with the
   server. One example is the block editor screen, which relies on this to display,
   and save, your posts and pages.
 * The REST API request failed due to an error.
    Error: [] cURL error 28: Operation
   timed out after 10000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received
 * The loopback request to your site failed, this means features relying on them
   are not currently working as expected.
    Error: [] cURL error 28: Operation timed
   out after 10001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received
 * Any ideas?
    Thanks!

 * Yeah, I’m having the exact same problem. I also see that you haven’t bothered
   to reply to this person. I’d buy your plugin if it worked … I’m looking for another
   one right now. If you can be bothered to drum up a solution before I find something
   else, that’d be great …

 * Nope, I never received a reply…and of course, I have several clients who bought.

 * Just an update – I’m not sure what is causing this problem. But it’s definitely
   a false positive. It isn’t actually causing any problems.
 * Taking a look at this topic: [https://wordpress.org/support/topic/curl-error-28-and-rest-api-call-failure-in-site-health-check/](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/curl-error-28-and-rest-api-call-failure-in-site-health-check/)–
   it seems to be related to PHP and SSL being enabled.

 * <rant>It certainly is not related to Php and SSL being enabled. _When I disable
   your plugin, the problem goes away._ The problem persists when I switch Php versions
   < 7 and enable your plugin. When I just use the code that PayPal gives me, that
   functionality works.
 * Don’t blame Php, SSL, my webhost or anything else. I’ll find a solution, don’t
   worry about me. Fix your plugin, you’ve got people that have paid for a plugin
   that is currently breaking their WordPress websites. I swear to God I’ll copy
   every last bit of promised functionality that your _paid_ plugin is supposed
   to provide and I’ll go through the hassle of getting it on the official repo
   for free!
 * I don’t particularly care about supporting Stripe but I’ll include them too …
   Your copyright is meaningless because it’s not like I can read through your convoluted
   code and fix it myself, let alone copy-paste and allow myself to attempt to pass
   it off as my own (IF I were to “steal” that mess you call a plugin then if I
   gave you credit in README.txt, that meaningless gesture would fulfill all attribution
   requirements of the GPLv2) … no, I have to simply do the same job — hopefully
   in a more efficient manner (< 2Kb, no buy me now nags, no rate me nags etc.).
   100% free and released under the WTFPLv2, which is fully compatible with WordPress’s
   GPLv2.</rant>

 * Hi,
    experiencing those same two error reports in Site health. Besides allegedly
   having some kind of impact on wordpress background update checks, this has a
   noticable impact on another plugin using curl to perform remote requests to a
   third party API. There seems to happen some sort of low level conflict where,
   having Paypal&Stripe add-on active, curl calls from the second plugin get delayed
   by 10 seconds each, which renders the website in this circumstances unusable.
   This is really nasty and hard to debug. What may the cause of this behaviour?
   As soon as Paypal&Stripe add-on is disabled this behaviour ceases. We’ve also
   verified this by selectively disabling the add-on in specific pages with the
   help of a loading filter like the Plugin Load Filter.
 * Any response appreciated.
    Antonio
