My host, SiteGround, recently had problems with an upstream provider and as a result, the rdb definition I had for my remote database no longer works AND I’m unable to edit and unable to replace it with a definition of the same name. I have many remote queries built that I do NOT want to recreate.

What can I do? I need to change replace the relative reference from (for example) xyz.us to an IP address.

    Can you please help ASAP?

Question for advanced users: Where in the WP database is the WPDataAccess rdp definition stored?

    I see I have options:
    1. alter the (I assume) single record that contains the remote database connection info
    or
    2. create a new rdp definition and update all publisher records to use the new rdp def.

    Hi @mkrause01,

Remote database connections are stored in the WP options table, but the information is encrypted so you cannot read it.

But there is a simpler solutions! 😉 Go to plugin settings, tab plugin, and scroll down to remote database connections. From there you can edit, test and delete your existing connections.

    Does this help?

Thank you, but when I click on the pencil, nothing happens. That’s the problem. I can see the remote connection name but can’t edit it because it apparently no longer points to a valid address. Again, when I set it up originally, I assume that I use the URI and not an IP address. It worked fine until SiteGround had their problem.
I CAN access the remote database using other methods but not via wpda.

correction. I am able to edit. The window opened outside of my view.

I was able to update the entry and my problem is solved. Thank you very much! This is a very terrific plugin!
