Support » Plugin: Wordfence Security - Firewall & Malware Scan » Error reading Wordfence Firewall config data

  • Hi WordFence

I am getting quite a large error log with this failure over and over. I have the free version. How can I correct this?

[10-Jan-2017 15:29:21 UTC] Error reading Wordfence Firewall config data, configuration file could be corrupted or inaccessible. Path: /home/xxxxx/public_html/site/wp-content/wflogs/config.php]

  • Hi,
Please make sure this “config.php” file exists and has correct permissions “660”, also make sure this file owner is the same user of your web server.

You could also rename this file to anything else and refresh the firewall page, this will generate a new copy of “config.php” file but you will lose all the firewall settings.

P.S. Let me know which PHP version is installed on your server, you can get this information from (Wordfence > Diagnostics => PHP).

Thanks for responding. Permissions are 660. I don’t see where in cPanel/file-manager where it says who the file owner is, but there is only one site on this account in the name of the owner. We are running PHP 5.5.38

I deleted the config file and reset the firewall, that btw, was never setup in the first place. Could that have been the problem? Only the “Options” were set.

So, you don’t see this error now?

File/directory owner and group can be easily detected using any FTP client “for example: FileZilla”, check this screenshot.
