Error page issued by the plugin

    Hi,

    I am using wordpress version 3.5.1 (multi-blog)
    BWP GXS version 1.2.1

    I got this error when I visit “post_google_news.xml” page.
    It is only happened when my sub-blog has no new content for a few day.
    "BWP Google XML Sitemaps Error: post_google_news.xml does not have any item. You can fix this easily by excluding any post types / terms you do not use in Sitemap Generator tab within your admin area. If you still see this error, consider checking the module that generates this sitemap (post_google_news.php)."

    anyway I can stop this?
    it seem to effect google webmaster tools too. every sub-blog with this error message get error 404 file not found warning on google webmaster tools. The message will be gone soon after I put up a new content, and google web master tools also soon stop give me 404 error the next crawl.
    General speaking, when we do not have a new content for a few day or week, it is not an error, the plugin shouldn’t issue an error message.

    I look at the plugin setting but I can not find anything relate to this issue. or I might miss something? any help would be appreciated.

    Hi there,

    Actually Google said that your news sitemap should only contain items that are at most two days old, so when the plugin can not find such items it will issue that error => because this is a news sitemap, you will have to actively maintain it anyway to have positive traffic from Google News.

    Even if the plugin doesn’t fire an error, it will show an empty news sitemap, which I believe will be marked as an error by GWT anyway.

    OddOneOut, thank you for the answer. I will consult with the team and see what next we will do.
    We have at less 2-5 new articles everyday, but we have more than ten sub-blogs that why not every blog get update everyday or two.

    Google News sitemap can be turned off for individual blog so you can safely turn it off for blogs that are not updated everyday or two.
