    Hello,

We have installed this plugin but we are confronted to a weird behavior.

We installed the plugin while our WordPress was configured in English. We needed the plugin in French, which is an official translation.
We followed the different steps to put our wordpress in French, but the plugin doesn’t seems to update.
The Cookie Policy (EU) is still in English.

    What we have tried:
    – Uninstall and delete all references to the plugin and installing it again
    – Force locale everywhere it was mentioned (even though our local is fr_FR)
    – Change our docker localization to a French timezone

    Our configuration:
    – Docker
    – WordPress 4.9
    – Complianz 4.3.4

I’ve seen several issues resolved on this, tried many of them but it’s still not translating.

Would you have any idea why ?

Thanks in advance for your time,

    Laura

    Hi Laura,

Thank you for using Complianz and reaching out to us. Just as doublecheck, did you change your site language under (WordPress) settings -> General -> site Language? Complianz should automatically follow these language settings, both for the dashboard and administrator menus, as the legal documents.

If you successfully changed the site language, your site needs to download the French language files. Sometimes this may take a while. Are other plugins already switched to French?

    Regards,
    Leon

    Hello Leon,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

We did switch everything to French: our dashboard is in French, the default Hello Dolly Plugin switched to French accordingly.

Maybe I can try to download the language files manually, how should I proceed ?

    Regards,

    Laura

    Hi @lmftn,

We had some luck with forcing updates if you download and install loco translate, this could force updates.

Otherwise you can download the files: https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/complianz-gdpr/stable/fr/default/

Or wait for our next release, which will be one of these day. I suspect an update will force the new files as well.

    Hello @aahulsebos,

Unfortunatly none of the above method worked.
I tried downloading the .po file and moved to /complianz/langugaes folder, nothing changed.
I tried installing Loco, same …

The language files should be located at wp-content/languages/plugins/

Can you check if you have the complianz-gdpr-fr_FR.po and .mo files there? Can you check if the hello dolly translation files, which works, has its translation files there as well?

Do you use any multilanguage tools like polylang or WPML?

    (@lmftn)

    Hello @rogierlankhorst

    Well, this is weird.
I have installed and renamed the files as you indicated it … And 3 words have been translated in French, the rest of the plugin is still in English.

And the Hello Dolly translation files are not there either …

We are not using any multilanguage tools.

    Regards,

    Laura

As you have selected French as general WP language, the plugin should now load the complianz-gdpr-fr_FR.po file.

If you download this file directly from the repository:
    https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/complianz-gdpr/stable/fr/default/export-translations/

Then rename the .po file to complianz-gdpr-fr_FR.po, and place it in wp-content/languages/plugins, WordPress should load this file.

If you see three words translated, it’s loading something, but the .po file you use might not be correct. In that case directly downloading the one from the link above might help.

Please remove any other .po translation file from Complianz GDPR you have added to make sure you’re not looking at the wrong translations.

    Still not.
I’ve download, renamed and placed the file where it was indicated … But still in English.

The 3 words translated are very common words (Settings, colors and continue) so it might be translated from another file.

It might be a problem with the docker synchronization, even though the file is ok in the container …

    Hello,
I am PTE of the plugin for French.
It is installed on several sites that I manage and none have this strange problem.
I don’t think it comes from the plugin, but from the use you make of it or your soft environment.

Do you have a cache activated on your hosting?

    Hello,
Je suis PTE de l’extension pour le Français.
Elle est installé sur plusieurs sites que j’administre et aucun n’a ce problème étrange.
Je ne pense pas qu’il vienne de l’extension, mais de l’usage que tu en fais ou de ton environnement.

As-tu du cache activé sur ton hébergement ?

    Hello,

We have seen the plugin in French as well, and find this particularly weird.
We have rebuild everything we could, clear all the caches we had … And the plugin still does not take French into consideration… I’ll keep looking on the configuration of our wordpress, it must be the problem.

If you have anything else, please let us know. We’ll keep you in touch if we find a solution,

Nous avons vu ce plugin en Français, c’est pour cela que nous trouvons tout ça bizarre.
Nous avons tout rebuildé, vider tous les caches possibles … Et le plugin ne prend pas la configuration en français … Je vais continuer à chercher du côté de la configuration car c’est très probablement le problème.
Si vous avez d’autres pistes, n’hésitez pas à nous en faire part. Nous vous tenons au courant si vous trouvons une solution,

    Regards,
    Cordialement,

    Laura

As this most likely isn’t related to the plugin, I’ll close this thread for now.

    Hello,

We did finally find the problem of translation.

The translation didn’t download the French part automatically, and adding it manually was the first part of the resolution !
The second part was to compile de .po file to a .mo file so that wordpress could understand the translation. We did it manually too, and it finally worked !

Thanks for the help your provided,
