I just had the same problem with two errors:
first I got a
Error occurred while updating SpamFireWall local base. Error: MULTIFILE_COULD_NOT_GET_RESPONSE_CODE: Resolving timed out after 3000 milliseconds
Then i tried to resync and I got another error along with it.
2021-01-30 09:49:20: Error occurred while API key validating. Error: Testing is failed. Please check the Access key.
Then I followed the instructions given above:
Please, try to reactivate the Anti-Spam plugin with “Complete deactivation” option enabled.
1. Enter to the Antispam by Cleantalk plugin settings. (Wordrpess Dashboard -> Settings -> Antispam by Cleantalk -> Advanced settings)
2. Check the last settings “Complete deactivation” and save changes.
3. Deactivate the plugin in the “Plugins” page in WordPress Dashboard.
4. Then activate it.
5. Save the access key
NOw I get another two errrors:
2021-01-30 09:47:02: Cron: Error occurred while updating SpamFireWall local base. Error: SFW_DISABLED
2021-01-30 09:48:43: Error occurred while automatically gettings access key. Error: CONNECTION_ERROR : “cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10001 milliseconds with 0 out of 0 bytes received”
2021-01-30 09:49:20: Error occurred while checking account status. Error: CONNECTION_ERROR : “cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10001 milliseconds with 0 out of 0 bytes received”
2021-01-30 09:49:20: Error occurred while API key validating. Error: Testing is failed. Please check the Access key.
So every correction seems to add an error.
what can i do?
I can see that now it tells me i have the wrong access key. I logged into my clean talk dashboard but cant see where to get a new one.
I chose the option get access key manually and apparently it will be emailed to me. But I havent received an email. Not sure what is going on with this plug in.

Past 24 hours I’ve updated to latest version 5.152.3 and tested Spam Firewall with /?sfw_test_ip=10.10.10.10 appended to URL – it’s not working on our website, as well as tested on some other websites which use CleanTalk (5.152.3) and still not working. Also tested random non-existent email address in registration field and it didn’t react to it. I’ll do more testing on our site, because there is some flux in settings at the moment.

It needs up to 15 minutes after access key inserting to make SamFireWall work.
