Error: Not Allowed to modify settings

    It seems with USP activated, our editor level users cannot access the dashboard or any other back-end screen. The usual WP error screen appears stating:

    Sorry, you are not allowed to modify settings.

    Adding the “manage_options” capability (via AAM) to their role seems to fix it for them, however, I don’t want to leave them this level of settings control.

    Deactivating USB solves the issue.

    Please advise. Thanks in advance.

    Yes, that is correct, in order for users to manage options, they need to have manage_options capabilities. By default, the Editor role does not include such, but it can be added as you suggest. Is there a reason that your editors need to be making changes to plugin settings?

    There is no need for them to manage settings – the problem is that all back-end pages including new post page and Edit My Profile pages are inaccessible to users without the “manage_options” capability.

    Deactivating USP solves the problem, for some reason. I wonder, is there a capability check in the USP plugin that runs on all pages of the back-end that checks for the “manage_options” capability?

    I understand, thanks for explaining. I have resolved this issue in the next version of the plugin, should be out a bit later today. Thank you for reporting.
