# Error message with WP Geo

 * I built this site a number of years ago and today notice that the WP Geo Google
   map is no longer working. Instead it produces the following message:
 * `Geocode was not successful for the following reason: REQUEST_DENIED`
 * and on the Google map:
 *     ```
       Google
       This page can't load Google Maps properly
       ```
   
 * The site uses the theme ‘Brankic’ and the script `bra_google_map` to pull it 
   in.

 * `Geocoding Service: You must use an API key to authenticate each request to Google
   Maps Platform APIs. For additional information, please refer to http://g.co/dev/
   maps-no-account`
 * You must have a registered API (with a credit card backing it) to use Google 
   maps.

 * I’m not really sure. I’m using a component of the Brankic WP theme called ‘WP
   Geo Location’. The script on the page looks like this: `[bra_google_map location
   ="Banbury" zoom="15"]`
 * I’ve now added the WP Geo plugin to my WP site. And I’m trying to make sense 
   of Google API keys. But I don’t really know what I’m doing.
 * As far as I can tell, the problem is due to Google adding the requirement for
   an API key. But I’m not clear how to fix this (preferably quickly) in my specific
   WP site.
