I’d recommend asking your question on the plugin support forum so the developers and support community can help you with this. The users and developers there are familiar with the plugin functionality and would be better able to answer your question.

Sorry – I have to add that I uninstalled wp-super-cache as per instructions, so in theory it is no longer on my site, however I still have the same error message glued to the top of my page.
I’m not sure how much this relates to the fact that wp-super-cache is not yet up to date with WP4.6 (which I have updated to).
Thanks for the links, but the issue now seems to be that files are missing, rather than requiring deleting:
I have tried reinstalling wp-super-cache however it won’t work because it is saying that /hermes/bosnaweb24a/b587/ipg etc etc is missing.
So I am just going around in circles and no amount of google searches is getting me to resolution. The wp cache plugin site has provided me with hours of reading and no solution.
Having spent endless hours on this it looks like I will have to delete my site and start again – definitely never using wp cache again.
files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /hermes/bosnaweb24a/b587/ipg etc etc
Can you post a link to your site?
Okay, I can’t update plugins or access my media library anymore. Still no closer to resolution on this.
Update Failed: W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /hermes/bosnaweb24a/b587/ipg.globalcohcom/cultureofhealthcomau/wp-content/db.php.{“success”:true,”data”:{“update”:”plugin”,”slug”:”akismet”,”oldVersion”:”Version 3.1.11″,”newVersion”:”Version 3.2″,”plugin”:”akismet\/akismet.php”,”pluginName”:”Akismet”}}
Surely I can’t be the only one this has happened to. Any answers??
Update Failed: W3 Total Cache Error:
First you were talking about WP Super Cache; now it’s W3TC. Did you install W3TC before fixing the other issue?
Okay, I can’t update plugins or access my media library anymore.
This sounds like more than just a cache problem. You might consider reloading WP. Here’s a manual process that will preserve your current settings and themes/plugins:
