    Hi there!

When I run a diagnostic test on your Jetpack connection, I get the following error too: “cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 5000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received”.

This usually means that your web host is blocking some connections Jetpack needs in order to work correctly.

Could you please contact your web host and ask them to make sure that the connections to and from *.wordpress.com are whitelisted?  In terms of IP ranges, the following ranges need to be fully whitelisted:

    185.64.140.0/22
    2a04:fa80::/29

Also, all of the IPs listed here:

    http://whois.arin.net/rest/org/AUTOM-93/nets.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

    My host says
    Hi Graham,
Is it possible for you to get the answers to my question so I can check the log to see what could be blocking jetpack on your account? I don’t need to know the huge range of IP’s they might use, I need to know which one last tried to connect. I need to know HOW they are connecting, SSH, FTP, webbased to a script installed? I also want to know what time they tried to connect.
I won’t be whitelisting over 2000 IP addresses.
    Kind Regards,
    Daniel.

I’m afraid we don’t have the answers for your host’s question, @gnfb.
The IP we use at one point in time for one specific factor is not something we can control, or know, or change. That will depend on the location of each user, for example, among other things.

A good way to figure something out about this is to have your host look at the logs, and search for all requests coming from the Jetpack by WordPress.com user agent.

Ultimately, though, they will need to whitelist all our IPs. Every site owners have tons of ways of interacting with our services, in different interfaces. We don’t always come from the same one IP 🙂

If your host has trouble whitelisting so many IPs and wants to know more about that, they’re welcome to send us an email about it. We will put them in touch with one of our network wranglers who can explain them why we need to do this.

You and your host can also have a look at the blog of our very own Barry: there are a lots of interesting insights, videos and links about our infrastructure 🙂

    Hey @gnfb!

I ran all of the sites you mentioned above in our debugger, and while allgood.nz looks not connected to Jetpack, yo.attn.nz is having connection troubles that can be sorted out by deleting and re-installing Jetpack.

geardirect.co now looks not connected at all; have you passed my insights to your host eventually?
