Error in YOURLS Database Connection (2 posts)

I have installed YOURLS to a web hosting service where I have several web servers and domains. The idea is to run YOURLS under one domain name and all my domains could use it. What should I consider to make this work?

I already ran into a problem while installing the YOURLS files. I have created a MySQL database for YOURLS and written the information into config.php. I get the following error:

SQLSTATE[42000] [1044] Access denied for user 'user_name'@'%' to database 'database_name'

The biggest wonder is the '%' digit as the user domain name. Where does that come from? In the config.php file, I am not able to give the db user a domain name. The connection to the database naturally fails, since the user domain name is this strange.

Has anybody else ran into this, please?

"%" just means that the user can log in to the database server from another domain (different to the one the server is running on). Makes sense? It basically means any other domain.. see: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11629346/mysql-connection-from-a-different-domain

your clients would access yourls server using the json interface, its the same if you have one or 1000 clients, the setup is the same
