  • Hi there,

The content is wider than the screen

The content on your page is wider than than the viewport, so when viewed on a mobile device, it causes users to have to scroll horizontally. Therefore, you’ll need to try resizing the content of the page (text, images, etc>) so that it is not wider than the mobile screen.

You can find more information about the mobile device requirements here:

Clickable elements are very close together

    Google states:

Small or tightly packed links or buttons are more difficult for users to accurately press on a touchscreen than with a traditional mouse cursor. To prevent users from being frustrated by accidentally hitting the wrong ones, tap targets should be made sufficiently large and far from other tap targets that a user can press them without their finger pad overlapping any other tap targets. The average adult finger pad size is about 10mm wide (a bit less than half an inch), and the Android UI guidelines recommend a minimum tap target size of roughly 7mm, or 48 CSS pixels on a site with a properly-set mobile viewport.

Please read the support page for more information on elements.

    Hope this helps.

I have just received the same notice above from Google Search Console on mobile usability issues and clicked on the above link for further information but get an error page.

My Jetpack settings for my mobile theme have been enabled and seems to look okay on my Android mobile phone. I have a self-hosted site via Hostgator, my theme is Twenty-Eleven and not too long ago I fixed plugins per a notice from WordPress to update for stability issues. So, now I’m not sure what I need to do to fix these 2 mobile usability issues: Clickable elements are very close together and The content is wider than the screen.

I would appreciate your assistance in helping me address these issues so I may notify Google that they have been fixed.

    Thank you

    Pat Ruppel
