Support » Fixing WordPress » Error in Leave a comment area

  • Hey all — I’m a php/mySQL newbie and am pretty stoked that I’ve got WP up and working, and least mostly. The only thing I’ve changed so far in my installation is a few of the options in the admin area and some of the CSS file.
When viewing a post, under the Leave a comment section is the following:
Line and paragraph breaks automatic, e-mail address never displayed, HTML allowed: <b>

    <i> <strike>
    (can be viewed at
So looks like something got messed up in the index.php or wp_comments.php files (I've not changed either of these since downloading)? I searched the support forums but found nothing. Anyone have any ideas?

    That’s normal – it’s a message to the commenter.
Edit ‘wp-comments.php’ to remove / alter it 🙂

Are you talking about the list of HTML there? That’s supposed to be there. It lets the commentor know what HTML tags they can use in the comment post.

Oh! Gotcha! Doh. Think I’ll look at reformatting that…looked like random code the way it’s displayed down there, to me anyway. thanks for the help! (Sheesch…..)
