# Error Help

 * All morning my WP was working fine. I just installed it last night. All of a 
   sudden I am getting this error when I try to update my options :
 * Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started
   at /home/*******/public_html/wp-admin/menu.php:68) in /home/*******/public_html/
   wp-admin/options.php on line 87
 * Does anyone know what this is all about and how to fix it? I’m pretty new to 
   this, so, please, speak slowly for me! 🙂

 * I looked at that and it didn’t help. I had WP installed through Fantastico if
   that makes a difference.

 * What was the last thing you did to the blog before it went wrong?
    Install a 
   plugin ? Install a theme ?

 * I had changed the menu.php according to this thread: [http://wordpress.org/support/topic.php?id=24340](http://wordpress.org/support/topic.php?id=24340)
 * I only changed the numbers in the top section there, and I had taken a screen
   shot of the original values, “just incase” and changed them back when the error
   started, but the error didn’t go away.

 * What did you edit the file with ?
    Are you certain that the very very last thing
   in that file is
 * ?>
 * and that there is no whitespace after that ? (Did you do the Delete key thing
   mentioned in the above link ?)

 * I edited the file through my control panel.
 * I did the delete thing at the end. There is nothing left after the ?>

 * It is preferable to download the file and edit it with a program such as Notepad
   ++ ( [http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/about.php](http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/about.php))
   
   and then reupload the changed file. That may be worth doing.

 * No – you could redownload WP (from the link at the top here), unzip it, then 
   just upload the (now new) menu.php
    Check your blog works okay, then edit it 
   as you need to.
 * Do get it working first though – makes it easier to find errors should they occur.
