error: headers already sent / no whitespaces

    Hey guys,

    I’m trying to install my first WordPress site and can not find out how to fix the following error:

    Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /www/htdocs/w0125cbf/ollart.de/wordpress/wp-blog-header.php:1) in /www/htdocs/w0125cbf/ollart.de/wordpress/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 1173

    After downloading the installation, I didn’t change anything in the files and uploaded them with FileZilla. I can’t find any white spaces and even tried with deleting and a new installation.

    Do you know what could solve this problem?

    You have unexpected whitespace (either a space or an entire line) on line 1 of the wp-blog-header.php file (not pluggable.php). See this guide for more info.

    Alternatively, replacing the file with one from a fresh download may resolve the issue.

    Hi, thanks for the useful reply! There was no (visible) whitespace and I tried a few things. At last, I could solve it by editing with a different editor. There I could save the files without BOM – that made the difference!
