Hi!
I’ve a problem, anybody who can help me with this problem after installing the Google Site Kit plugin?“Your site may not be ready for Site Kit Looks like your site is having a technical issue with requesting data from Google services. To get more help, ask a question on our support forum and include the text of the original error message: google_api_connection_fail”

Thanks for reaching out. The “google_api_connection_fail” notice may indicate that something at host level or outside your WordPress installation is resulting in you not being able to setup Site Kit.
If you’d like to share the following information I’d be happy to check your setup.
- Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred. Please include your current hosting provider where requested if using the form.
- Have you been able to setup Site Kit on this website or any other site on the same hosting platform previously?
From checking your REST endpoints it looks like your WordPress address and site address differ. Once we have the above information we can check your setup and investigate this further.
Many thanks for sharing your Site Health information. As it looks like your reference site doesn’t include the
/it
path which may have been added via your language plugin can you perform the steps below and inform me if you’re able to proceed with Site Kit setup.- Login to your site from a Chrome browser incognito window
- Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
- Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
- From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
- Attempt to setup Site Kit once more
You can exit troubleshooting mode afterwards.
Let me know if you encounter the same issue after following the steps above, at which point I’ll provide you with some steps to check at host level.
Hello,
Thank you for your answer.1. I filled out the form with the requested information
2. it is the first time that I install Site Kit on this hosting, in filling out the form I entered SiteGround as a provider but I was wrong, the provider is this https://www.fcw.itThanks so much for everything!
Thanks for your help, I followed your directions but it still doesn’t work 🙁
Sorry to hear that. When you mention it still doesn’t work can you confirm the following:
- Is the error message the same (google_api_connection_fail)?
- Do you see any browser console errors on the same screen with this error?
Once I know the above I’ve provide some additional troubleshooting steps which can be performed on your hosting side.
Yes, the error is always the same:
Looks like your site is having a technical issue with requesting data from Google services.
To get more help, ask a question on our support forum and include the text of the original error message:
google_api_connection_failWhile on the chrome console I have these errors:

Many thanks for sharing the additional information. And no bother whatsoever, happy to help!
As I’m still unsure if the issue is related to mismatching URLs given the subdomain reference in our console errors (new.fondazioneaurora.org) and also the use of a /it path when visiting your site let’s first of all correct any mixed content related issues. Can you check your Site Health status for any http related warnings? If you don’t see any such errors please use a plugin to ensure all your site traffic and resources are fully https. You can do a search for any insecure content fixer plugins.
After you’ve checked that all content is fully HTTPs let me know of the follow should the issue persist:
- Are you able to setup Site Kit on another site with the same hosting platform? You may be able to use a hosting control panel quick WordPress setup in order to test using a clean WordPress install without any plugins.
- Did you have your site setup on new.fondazioneaurora.org previously, or without the /it path which I’m redirected to when visiting your site?
- What country are you based in?
As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist.
Hi James, forgive me I was on vacation and only got back today.
I am following your suggestion and am replacing all files with new.fondazioneaurora.org, also I used a replace plugin to replace http, can I still bother you as soon as I finish?

No problem, good idea. Let me know as soon as you have an opportunity to check the above and we can check this further.
@hildaram Checking in here – were you able to work on replacing the files and https, and did that fix your issue? Thank you!
