    Hello,

I have a problem with scheduled backups.

I have a WordPress installation with disabled Cron.
But in the cpanel I have configured cron to run wp-cron.php every 5 mins.

And every time the backup is triggered I have the following email from my hoster:

    Cron Daemon <cron@web-hosting.com>

Use of uninitialized value in numeric gt (>) at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/Filesys/Mounts.pm line 205.
Use of uninitialized value in numeric gt (>) at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/Filesys/Mounts.pm line 205.
Use of uninitialized value in numeric gt (>) at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/Filesys/Mounts.pm line 205.
Use of uninitialized value in numeric gt (>) at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/Filesys/Mounts.pm line 205.

It looks like backups are working fine but this email, I cannot understand the reason for it.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

I am sorry but this reply gives me nothing.
Could you please be more concrete?

Do you understand what could be the problem?
Is it on the hoster side or WP or plugin?

    Thank you.

    Hi,

The log message you are seeing is an inconsequential coding notice from inside cPanel, your hosting company’s control panel software. It could be reported to them, but only if you have time for that sort of thing, as it is of no consequence.

@davidanderson, I have tried to report this but they told me it is something wrong with my WP plugins.

Where is the truth? Is it a cpanel problem? Or the plugin misuses some APIs?

Use of uninitialized value in numeric gt (>) at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/Filesys/Mounts.pm line 205.

Note that path – /usr/local/cpanel. That is the directory that the system-wide cPanel lives in. It’s not your WordPress plugin.

As I say, it’s an entirely cosmetic programming notice. You could report it to cPanel, or just ignore it – it will make no difference to anything else, either way.

@davidanderson, so it does not affect backups anyhow, right?

@davidanderson, what I got from my hosting provider is following:

We suppose that an error message was triggered by one of your plugins, since there is no such directory as “filesys” and thus it couldn’t be sent from server side.

And a bit of information from cPanel support:
    https://forums.cpanel.net/threads/error-from-cron-use-of-uninitialized-value-in-numeric-gt.670541/

Can this help to figure out the problem?

I have just received another reply from the hoster:

    1) flock is supported in the filesystem.
    2) The file system mounted for cPanel users is ext4.

Most probably, you are receiving the warning because of using the external storage in Updraft plugin. You can try using the local storage or redirect the errors of the cron to /dev/null by adding 2>/dev/null at the end of the cron command.

    Can this help?

I really can’t say anything useful about when cPanel does, or does not, emit messages – I’m not a cPanel support agent. All I can do is interpret the message, to say that it is emitted by cPanel. I cannot tell you under what circumstances cPanel will do that – I don’t use cPanel on my own hosting.
